Jaipur Celebrates Eid: Unity in Diversity and Brotherhood

– Raheem Khan

Jaipur, April 16: Eid festivities in Jaipur were marked by a vibrant display of unity and friendship among communities. The Muslim community celebrated Eid with great joy following the sighting of the crescent moon, and members of the Hindu community joined in to demonstrate their solidarity and camaraderie. In Jaipur, Hindus showered flower petals on those offering prayers, symbolizing love and unity. The city’s Ganga-Jamuni culture exemplifies harmony and is a model for the entire nation.

Eid prayers attracted large crowds, particularly at the city’s Jama Masjid, where people gathered early in the morning to participate. Despite the designated time for Eid prayers at the Jaipur Eidgah being set for 8:30 am, a vast crowd had already assembled by 7:00 am, extending from Chungi Naka to Galta Gate.

The streets and markets of Jaipur were adorned beautifully in celebration of Eid, adding to the joy of children who were eagerly seeking Eidi (gifts) from their elders.

Following the Eid prayers at the Eidgah, Shahar Qazi Khalid Usmani was joined by Hindu community members who showered namazis with flower petals and warm embraces to convey Eid Mubarak wishes. This gesture underscored the enduring Ganga-Jamuni culture and sent a message against divisive forces, affirming the centuries-old bond of brotherhood between Hindus and Muslims.

Chief Qazi Khalid Usmani emphasized the importance of preserving the longstanding tradition of love and unity in the country. He stressed the need for mutual support during times of adversity and urged the government to counter hate-mongering regardless of its source, emphasizing the importance of a secure and progressive nation.

Additionally, Khalid Usmani urged people to exercise their voting rights diligently, irrespective of party affiliation, and support candidates committed to upholding law and order, promoting communal harmony, and prioritizing education and employment.

After the prayers, celebrants embraced and exchanged greetings, with Hindu brothers continuing to shower flower petals as a symbolic gesture of unity. The Muslim community expressed gratitude for this show of solidarity, exchanging warm wishes on Eid and Gangaur.
