Jaipur Couple Injured in Terrorist Attack in Pahalgam, J&K

Jaipur, May 21: A couple from Jaipur, visiting Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, was seriously injured in a terrorist attack on Saturday. The incident occurred at a resort in the Yannar area. Tabrej and Farha Khan, along with their two small children and a group of 50 people, were on a tour of Jammu and Kashmir when they were attacked.

Both were admitted to GSC Hospital in Anantnag for treatment. Tabrej’s father, Aslam Khan, reported that Tabrej was shot in the head near his eye. He underwent surgery on Sunday morning, resulting in the loss of one eye and a broken nose, which will require another operation. Aslam Khan has sought assistance from the central and state governments to airlift Tabrej, Farha, and their two children to Delhi for further treatment.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has directed officials to provide all necessary support to the couple. The Chief Minister’s Office has contacted the couple’s family, assuring them of all possible assistance.

Witnesses reported that the group was leaving a resort in Pahalgam after dinner when the attack occurred. Tabrej and Farha were fired upon as they exited the bus and approached the resort. The terrorists fled the scene, leaving the area in panic. Security forces quickly transported the injured to the hospital.

The couple has since been transferred from Anantnag to Srinagar Military Hospital for treatment. Former state president of BJP Minority Morcha M. Sadiq Khan confirmed that the CMO officials, acting on the Chief Minister’s instructions, contacted the family to ensure cooperation in the couple’s treatment. Local leaders, including Hawamahal MLA Balmukundacharya, Congress Jaipur District President RR Tiwari, and Kishanpol MLA Amin Kagzi, visited the victim’s family to offer their support.

Tabrej underwent two operations near his eye on Sunday, while Farha has been fitted with a rod due to a shoulder fracture. The couple’s twin children, Haider and Umeira, remain in shock following the incident.

The family traveled to Kashmir on May 15 and was scheduled to return to Jaipur on May 22. Tabrej’s brother-in-law, Salman, who was also at the restaurant during the attack, was grazed by a bullet.

This tragic incident underscores the ongoing security challenges in the region and the impact on civilians visiting the area.
