New Delhi, June 2: Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has leveled serious accusations against Union Home Minister Amit Shah, claiming that he has been making calls to over 150 District Magistrates (DMs) across India to sway the results of the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Ramesh asserts that these actions are an attempt to manipulate the electoral process in favor of the ruling party. He expressed grave concerns over the integrity of the democratic process and called for transparency and adherence to democratic norms.
In a recent press statement, Ramesh elaborated on the allegations, stating that such interference undermines the independence of the administrative machinery. He urged the Election Commission and other relevant authorities to investigate these claims thoroughly and ensure that the electoral process remains free and fair.
The Congress leader also highlighted the importance of maintaining public trust in democratic institutions, especially during a crucial electoral period. He emphasized that any attempts to unduly influence election outcomes must be condemned and addressed promptly to uphold the sanctity of India’s democratic system.
