Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) Aurangabad City has launched a coordinated civic campaign following the tragic death of a three-year-old child, Armaan Shaikh due to a dog bite in the city. The organization has engaged in a series of advocacy, relief, and public mobilization measures to demand accountability from authorities and ensure such negligence is not repeated.
The issue first came to prominence after the advice of Abdul Jawwad Qadri Sahib, who urged JIH to bring the matter to public attention through media and civic action. Acting swiftly, the Aurangabad chapter reached out to local newspapers, television channels, and digital media platforms, ensuring wide coverage of the incident.
Under the leadership of JIH City President, Salman Mukarram, a detailed memorandum was submitted to the concerned municipal department, outlining lapses in civic management and the urgent need for effective dog control measures. The memorandum highlighted the rising threat of stray dogs and demanded immediate sterilization drives, better animal control infrastructure, and clear accountability for municipal negligence.
JIH members also ensured that the submission of the memorandum itself received adequate media attention. The organization collected medical reports from hospitals and relevant institutions to substantiate their claims about the lack of timely medical response. They also reached out to the bereaved family, offering emotional and logistical support while countering misinformation that had been spread to downplay the tragedy.
A visit was organized by Ms Ansab, JIH PR Secretary, to the victim’s home to express solidarity and document the family’s grievances. Furthermore, an online complaint was lodged with the Chief Minister’s Office demanding immediate state intervention and compensation for the victim’s family.
Looking ahead, JIH Aurangabad plans to intensify its efforts by organizing a public sit-in protest in front of the municipal corporation. The protest will call for a clear action plan from city authorities to prevent further deaths or injuries from stray dog attacks. JIH has also reached out to other local organizations, social activists, and community networks to build a united front on the issue.
The JIH Aurangabad City has compiled all relevant documents, medical reports, and media coverage into a comprehensive PDF dossier to ensure transparency and record-keeping. This documentation will also serve as a reference for follow-up advocacy and legal correspondence.
Through this initiative, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind has reaffirmed its role as a socially responsible organization committed to justice, public welfare, and civic accountability. Leaders of the group emphasized that protecting the lives and dignity of citizens is a collective duty that transcends politics and must be upheld as a moral and administrative priority.
