Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Condemns Defacement of Ambedkar Statue, Demands Strict Action

– Raheem Khan
Mohammad Nazimuddin, State President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Rajasthan, strongly condemned the defacement of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s statue in Gairsar village, Bikaner. The statue was smeared with black paint at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Square in Lunkaransar Assembly constituency.
Nazimuddin expressed deep anguish over the incident. He said defiling the statue of Bharat Ratna Dr. Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution, a day before his birth anniversary, was shameful.
He said such acts show that criminals no longer fear the law. People from a specific ideology are trying to disturb social harmony, he alleged.
He urged the police to act immediately and punish the culprits harshly. He also called for a thorough probe into the timing, intent, and people behind the act.
Nazimuddin voiced concern over increasing discrimination and crimes against Dalits in Rajasthan. He mentioned a recent case from Alwar where BJP’s former MLA Gyandev Ahuja purified a temple with Ganga water after Dalit leader Tikaram Jully visited.
He asked the administration how long Dalits would continue facing such humiliation and atrocities.
Nazimuddin demanded strong action and justice. He said disrespect toward icons of any religion or community must not happen again. He urged for peace, love, and harmony in society.
He concluded by saying that the Rajasthan Police’s motto, “Fear among criminals and trust among citizens,” must be seen in practice.
