New Delhi: Jamaat e Islami Hind President Syed Sadatullah Husaini condemned the ongoing military strikes by the United States and Israel on Iran and urged immediate restraint to prevent a wider regional conflict.
In a statement to the media, Husaini described the attacks on Iranian territory as a violation of national sovereignty and international law. He expressed concern over civilian casualties and damage reported in several parts of Iran. He referred to reports of a recent airstrike in Minab in southern Iran where 165 schoolgirls died after a school was hit. He said such attacks on civilians, especially children, violate international humanitarian law and require accountability at the United Nations and within the global community.
Husaini stated that the escalation reflected a pattern of militarized intervention which has destabilized the Middle East and exposed civilians to suffering and insecurity. He said continued support for Israel’s military actions by the United States risks widening instability across the Gulf region.
He urged Iran to defend its sovereignty with restraint so that the conflict does not expand into an Iran Arab confrontation. He also appealed to Arab countries to ensure their territories and airspace do not assist military operations in the conflict.
The JIH president called on the Government of India to use its diplomatic influence to push for an immediate ceasefire and renewed negotiations. He said India should adopt a clear position against aggression and work with the international community to restore peace.
Husaini urged global leaders to prevent further escalation and pursue dialogue, respect for sovereignty, and justice in international relations.
