Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Delegation Visits Jai Hind Camp, Urges Authorities to Restore Civic Amenities

New Delhi: A delegation from Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH), led by its Vice President Prof. Salim Engineer and prominent social activist Nadeem Khan, visited the Jai Hind Camp in Vasant Kunj, New Delhi, where nearly 1,100 families are facing the threat of eviction and demolition.
These families, predominantly from the Cooch Behar district of West Bengal, have been living in uncertainty due to pending eviction notices. Disturbingly, for the past 10 days, the slum residents have been denied access to essential civic services, including electricity, sanitation, and toilets, further worsening their already precarious living conditions.
The JIH delegation interacted with the local Pradhan (village head), the Imam of a nearby mosque, and several residents. During the meeting, the delegation expressed deep concern over the humanitarian crisis unfolding in the camp and assured the community of their full support.
Speaking after the visit, Prof. Salim Engineer stated, “It is extremely disheartening to see fellow citizens being stripped of basic human needs. The authorities must take immediate steps to restore civic amenities and handle the issue with compassion and humanity.”
The delegation strongly urged the government and concerned authorities to intervene urgently, reinstate access to basic facilities, and prevent further distress among the residents of Jai Hind Camp.
