Meerut: Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Meerut, has launched a ten-day anti-drug campaign to fight substance abuse. At a press conference in Gulawathi, Moinuddin Khan, President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Bulandshahr, called addiction a stain on society.
He highlighted the rising use of alcohol, drugs, marijuana, and cannabis. Alcohol consumption, he warned, is reaching alarming levels nationwide. Addiction destroys individuals, weakens families, and harms communities.
The campaign, running from February 14 to February 23, aims to raise awareness. Khan stressed that drug abuse leads to crime, health issues, and financial distress. He warned that addicts lose religious, mental, physical, and psychological abilities, leading to violence.
He urged society to unite against addiction through religious and moral education. Criticizing the government’s weak response, he called for rehab centers in prisons and key locations. He emphasized that Islam strictly prohibits drugs and promotes a disciplined life.
Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, a nationalist socio-religious group, works to eliminate social evils. The event saw the presence of Javed Faizi, journalist Ikramuddin, Younus Aadhati, Mohammad Shujauddin, Zaid Abdullah, and journalist Abdul Salam.
