Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Rajasthan Condemns Bihar CM Nitish Kumar for “Shameful Act” of Removing Muslim Doctor’s Hijab

Jaipur : The president of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Rajasthan, Muhammad Nazimuddin, has strongly condemned Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for allegedly pulling off the hijab of a Muslim AYUSH doctor during a public event. Nazimuddin described the act as “deeply objectionable and shameful,” demanding a public apology from the Chief Minister.

According to reports, the incident occurred on Monday during the appointment letter distribution ceremony for newly appointed AYUSH doctors at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat. Witnesses included several state ministers, senior officials, and doctors. A video of the incident went viral on social media, sparking widespread anger and a sense of insecurity among peace-loving citizens across the country.

Nazimuddin emphasized that the woman doctor had already been verified before being presented to the Chief Minister, ruling out any issue of identification or security. He said the matter is not about security protocols but rather an insult to the hijab and an affront to the dignity and modesty of women.

“For Muslim women, the hijab is not merely a piece of clothing but a symbol of faith and personal dignity,” Nazimuddin said. “The Chief Minister must apologize not only to the concerned doctor but also to the people of the country, as his act has hurt the sentiments of women across India.”

Expressing deep concern, Nazimuddin added that such behavior from a person holding the highest executive position in the state could embolden those who disrespect women and may lead to social disorder in the future. “Such conduct has no place in a civilized society,” he said.
