Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Steps Up Diplomatic Outreach on Gaza, Urges Global Action Against Israeli Aggression

New Delhi : Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH), along with several Muslim organisations, has intensified its diplomatic efforts to highlight the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza. In a series of meetings with representatives of seven embassies in New Delhi, JIH urged decisive international action to hold Israel accountable for war crimes and to provide urgent humanitarian aid to Palestinians.

According to JIH, two of the meetings were joint delegations with other Muslim organisations, while five were conducted exclusively by its representatives. The embassies engaged included the European Union, France, Gambia, Iran, Indonesia, Egypt, and Jordan. These diplomatic efforts run parallel to the ongoing nationwide protests and public demonstrations, ensuring that the concerns of Indian Muslims are directly communicated at international levels.

During the meetings, memoranda were submitted to ambassadors and senior diplomats, outlining the catastrophic situation in Gaza. Delegations highlighted that relentless Israeli bombardment since October 2023 has killed more than 100,000 Palestinians, including nearly 20,000 children. They pointed out that around 90 percent of medical facilities have been destroyed, food and medicine remain in critical shortage, half a million children have been deprived of education, and the territory is facing the threat of famine due to the continuing blockade.

The memoranda called on governments to take a strong moral stand by condemning Israel’s indiscriminate use of force against civilians and infrastructure—actions described as clear violations of international humanitarian law. They also urged support for international legal action against Israeli leaders responsible for war crimes, suspension of military and economic cooperation with Israel, and endorsement of UN resolutions demanding an end to occupation.

Additionally, the delegations pressed for immediate humanitarian commitments, including increased funding for UNRWA and the facilitation of humanitarian corridors to deliver food, water, fuel, and medicines to the besieged population. They stressed that Palestinians’ right to self-determination and sovereignty must be respected, with the establishment of an independent State of Palestine as the only sustainable solution.

JIH President Syed Sadatullah Hussaini explained the rationale behind the initiative, stating, “Neutrality in the face of genocide is complicity. The people of Gaza are being subjected to collective punishment, and the world cannot remain silent. Our efforts through protests and diplomatic outreach are meant to ensure that the cries of Palestinians reach every corridor of power.”

JIH has confirmed that more embassies will be approached in the coming days as part of its sustained campaign to mobilize international opinion in support of Palestine.
