New Delhi: Jameel Anjum Dehlavi, a prominent social activist from Delhi, has been appointed as the President of Urdu Development Organisation, Delhi. The appointment was announced by Dr. Syed Ahmad Khan, National President, and Dr. Parwaz Uloom, Founder and General Secretary of the organisation.
The UDO expressed concern over a growing trend of removing Urdu words at the government level. This issue was first highlighted by the Haryana and Rajasthan state police, who issued directives to eliminate Urdu terminology. Despite Urdu being one of India’s most popular languages with a rich literary heritage, the organisation believes it is being targeted and weakened due to bias.
Dr. Parwaz Uloom indicated plans to file a Public Interest Litigation (PIL), expressing confidence in the judiciary to address the matter. Dr. Syed Ahmad Khan emphasised that the organisation expects Jameel Anjum Dehlavi and his team to play a key role in furthering the aims and objectives of the Urdu Development Organisation.
