New Delhi: Jamia Hamdard hosted the Annual Boys’ Hostel Day Celebration, Karvaan 2025, at the Hakeem Abdul Hameed Auditorium, Jamia Hamdard here Friday. The event was a celebration of hostel life, cultural diversity, and academic camaraderie, bringing together students, faculty members, and distinguished guests for an evening of reflection, recognition, and festivity.
The event commenced with a soulful recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by the melodious rendition of the Jamia Hamdard Tarana.
Prof. Md. Shahnawaz Abdin, Provost (Boys), delivered the Welcome Address, extending a warm greeting to the esteemed guests. He paid homage to the visionary founder of Jamia Hamdard, Hakeem Abdul Hameed, recalling his enduring legacy and the values he instilled in the university. Prof. Abdin also emphasised the significance of literary and cultural festivals in enhancing the experience of hostel life and fostering holistic student development.
Mrs. Hena Parveen, Educationist and Advisor to Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA), Jamia Hamdard, graced the occasion as the Special Guest of Honour. In her address, she highlighted the importance of ethics, discipline, and moral values in maintaining a balance between academic excellence and personality development.
The event was further enriched by the presence of Prof. Asjad Usmani, Head, Department of Management, Don Bosco Institute of Technology, New Delhi, who served as Guest of Honour. He shared his insights on hostel life as a foundation for personal growth, teamwork, and character-building.
Mr. Nitin Rathi, Senior Vice President at Castler, also joined as Guest of Honour, delivering an inspiring speech that blended wisdom with nostalgic reflections from his own hostel days.
Prof. Reshma Nasreen, Dean Student Welfare, Jamia Hamdard, in her remarks, reiterated the importance of hostel life in shaping a student’s personality and fostering a sense of community.
The keynote address was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) M. Afshar Alam, Vice Chancellor, Jamia Hamdard. He commended the vibrant cultural diversity among the hostel residents and emphasised how hostel life instils values of unity, mutual respect, and inclusivity-essential traits in both academic and social spheres.
A variety of captivating cultural performances were presented by the students, showcasing their talent, creativity, and team spirit. The winners of various literary, cultural, and sports activities were felicitated with certificates, medals, and trophies by the Vice Chancellor and Mrs. Hena Parveen.

The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Mairaj Ahmed Ansari, Assistant Provost (Boys Hostel), who expressed heartfelt gratitude to all dignitaries, faculty members, staff, and students for their invaluable contributions in making Karvaan 2025 a grand success.
The event concluded with the National Anthem, marking the end of a truly memorable celebration.
