Jamia Hamdard Hosts UAE Cooperation Lecture Series in Collaboration with Educators Without Borders

New Delhi, Sep 5: The Hamdard Institute of International Studies (HIIS) at Jamia Hamdard, in collaboration with Educators Without Borders from Abu Dhabi, UAE, launched the “UAE Cooperation Lecture Series,” a two-day event aimed at enhancing global educational collaboration and cross-cultural understanding. Held at the Hamdard Convention Centre here, the series focused on advanced pedagogical practices, teacher development, strategic planning, and leadership.

In his presidential remarks, Prof. (Dr.) M. Afshar Alam, Vice Chancellor of Jamia Hamdard, emphasized the transformative power of educational partnerships, while Dr. M.A. Sikandar, Registrar of Jamia Hamdard, delivered a welcoming address that set the stage for the event.

The inaugural session was marked by a keynote address from Prof. Zikrur Rahman, Founding Director of India Arab Cultural Centre and a former Indian Foreign Service Officer. The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Prof. (Dr.) Syeedun Nisa, Director of HIIS.

The first day’s sessions featured a dynamic presentation by Ms. Mahra Saeed, Executive Coordinator of Educators Without Borders, who led an interactive discussion on professional development for educators. She highlighted the importance of integrating innovative technologies to meet the challenges of the evolving educational landscape. The session, moderated by Dr. Shireen Zafar, Assistant Professor at Jamia Hamdard, fostered engaging discussions on topics such as Artificial Intelligence, cybersecurity, and the future of education.

Following this, Ms. Bakhita Al Remeithi, Executive Director of the Manara Centre for Coexistence & Dialogue, presented a session on strategic educational planning with an emphasis on conflict resolution. Her address underscored the alignment of the Manara Centre’s mission with Jamia Hamdard’s objectives, exploring how educational settings can be leveraged to foster cooperation and mitigate conflicts. Mr. Shivam Bahuguna, Assistant Professor at HIIS, moderated the session, which was attended by Janab Hammad Ahmed, Chancellor of Jamia Hamdard.

On the second day, the series continued with a focus on leadership and coexistence in education. Dr. Fazlur Rehman, Assistant Professor at the Department of Islamic Studies, Jamia Hamdard, welcomed participants to the day’s sessions. Dr. Hasan Al Marzzouqi, Assistant Secretary-General of the World Muslim Communities Council, UAE, led a session on the role of education in promoting interfaith dialogue and combating hate speech. The session, moderated by Prof. Syeedun Nisa and Prof. Zikrur Rahman, offered valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities in this field.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. M.A. Sikandar, followed by a stirring rendition of the national anthem. This successful initiative not only reinforces Jamia Hamdard’s commitment to global educational cooperation but also sets the stage for future collaborations, student and faculty exchanges, and joint research projects.
