Jamia Hamdard’s School of Unani Medical Education and Research Welcomes New Students at the Inaugural Transitional Curriculum and Orientation Programme 2025–2026

New Delhi: The School of Unani Medical Education and Research, Jamia Hamdard, warmly welcomed its new batch of BUMS, Pre-Tib and MD (Unani) students for the academic year 2025–2026 through an inaugural Transitional Curriculum and Orientation Training Programme, organised in accordance with the mandate of the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM), Government of India.

The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Prof. (Dr.) M. Afshar Alam, Vice Chancellor, and patroned by Chancellor, Hammad Ahmed. The event   was graced by distinguished guests, including Prof. M. Mazahir Alam, President, Board of Unani, Siddha, and Sowa-Rigpa, NCISM, as the Chief Guest, and Dr. Abdul Qayyum, Director (Technical) and Deputy Chief Executive Officer, National Medicinal Plants Board, Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India.

In his presidential address, the Vice Chancellor of Jamia Hamdard expressed his appreciation to the organisers and extended warm wishes to the newly admitted students. He emphasised the importance of adopting modern technological advancements in healthcare and highlighted the vast opportunities for research, innovation, and entrepreneurship within the Unani system of medicine.

Reflecting on the heritage of the institution, Prof. Asim Ali Khan, Head, Department of Internal Medicine and former Director General, CCRUM, spoke about the enduring legacy of Jamia Hamdard, founded by Late Hakeem Abdul Hameed. He encouraged the students to focus on capacity building and skill development to excel in their academic journey.

Prof. Yasmeen Shamsi, Dean, SUMER, and Prof. Khursheed Ahmad Ansari, Organising Chairman formally welcomed the dignitaries, faculty, and students to the inaugural session of the programme.

During the pre-inaugural session, several university officials, including the DSW, Chief Proctor, Provosts (Girls and Boys), Sports Secretary, and Foreign Student Advisor addressed the students and shared essential guidance for their upcoming academic journey.

The programme concluded with the National Anthem. Dr. Sadia Nikhat, Organising Secretary, proposed the formal vote of thanks, expressing heartfelt gratitude to all dignitaries, faculty members, and students for their support and participation in making the event a success.
