Jamia’s ‘Lamps of Learning’: Call for a Moral Revolution to Combat Social Decay

By Mujahid.Md

Hyderabad: Emphasising that education is the ultimate antidote to the crisis of values in modern society, Muhammad Azharuddin, President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Telangana, called upon the youth to bridge the gap between academic degrees and moral character.

Speaking as the chief guest at the convocation ceremony of Jamia Riyazus Salihat, Azharuddin delivered a stirring address to the graduating class, urging them to become catalysts for a moral revolution.

Drawing a sharp distinction between literacy and true wisdom, the JIH state president remarked, “Knowledge without practice is like a tree that bears no fruit; it offers neither shade nor sustenance.” Expressing concern over the “alarming moral decline” and the fragmentation of the family unit in contemporary times, he described the graduates as a “Sanjeevani” (life-saving herb) for a struggling society.

“The Islamic values you have imbibed must not remain confined within the walls of this institution or your homes; they must venture out to dispel the darkness prevalent in the world,” he told the gathering.

Highlighting the pivotal role of women in nation-building, Azharuddin noted that an educated woman has the power to civilize an entire generation. He cautioned the youth against losing their way in the pursuit of distorted modernity, urging them to let their lives serve as a benchmark for others.

“The 17-year academic foundation laid at Jamia Riyazus Salihat is your armour in the battle of life. Let humility, integrity, and God-consciousness be your true ornaments,” he said in an emotionally charged segment of his speech.

Addressing the complexities of the digital age, the JIH state chief exhorted the new generation to pair their intellectual prowess with moral fortitude. He reminded the graduates that regardless of their professional heights, they must never compromise on their identity or core values.

The ceremony concluded with a sense of renewed vigour, as students pledged to take up the sacred responsibility of social reconstruction, turning the lamps of literacy lit at the Jamia into beacons of awareness for every household.
