New Delhi: Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind (Mahmood faction) strongly condemned the mob lynching in Aligarh and demanded urgent action and arrests. The group called the incident inhumane, disturbing, and a stain on the nation’s conscience.
On May 24, four Muslim men were attacked by a Hindutva mob in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. The victims – Arbaz, Aqeel, Kadim, and Munna Khan – are residents of Atrauli town.
They were brutally assaulted. Videos shared widely on social media show the mob stripping them and attacking them with sharp weapons, rods, bricks, and sticks.
Police rescued the men after they suffered serious injuries. Three of them remain critical. Aqeel’s father, Salim Khan, said, “My son is fighting for his life. I can’t describe the injuries. Watch the videos.”
Jamiat President Maulana Mahmood Madani said such attacks are inhumane and disgraceful. He warned that lynching Muslim youth over beef suspicion threatens communal peace, public safety, and law and order.
He noted the repetition of these crimes despite strict laws and Supreme Court orders. He said cow vigilantes act freely, often with political protection.
He urged both central and state governments to publicly oppose mob violence. “No one has the right to take the law into their own hands,” he said. “The rule of law must be enforced. Supreme Court guidelines must be followed.”
He demanded a fair and quick probe. He called for immediate arrests and prosecution under anti-lynching laws. He also demanded full medical care, protection, and compensation for the victims.
A Jamiat delegation led by Mufti Akbar Qasmi visited the injured at JNMC Hospital. They expressed support to the families and submitted a full report to Jamiat’s General Secretary, Maulana Hakimuddin Qasmi.
The report confirmed that the victims are licensed meat traders. They carried meat from non-prohibited animals with proper documents. The mob ignored all explanations and attacked them anyway.
