New Delhi, July 20: Maulana Mahmood Asa’d Madani, President of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, has strongly condemned the Uttar Pradesh government’s recent order mandating entry displays along the Kanwar Yatra route. Maulana Madani has characterized this decision as unjust, discriminatory, and a clear manifestation of prejudice.
In his statement, Maulana Madani said, “This decision mirrors the historical untouchability faced by the Dalit community, now being directed towards Muslims, relegating them to second-class citizenship. Such actions tarnish the cultural identity and fabric of our nation, which is rooted in the teachings of Buddha, Chishti, Nanak, and Gandhi. These divisive measures will never be acceptable.”
He further argued, “Although this decision is being implemented in a specific area, its ramifications will be far-reaching. It will empower forces advocating for the economic boycott of Muslims and provide opportunities for anti-national elements to exploit the situation.”
Maulana Madani pointed out that the areas through which the Kanwar Yatra passes have a significant Muslim population. “Muslims have always respected the beliefs and practices of the Kanwarias and have never caused them any harm. However, such an order will severely damage communal harmony and create divisions and misunderstandings among the people.”
Maulana Madani demanded that the Uttar Pradesh government immediately withdraw this deplorable decision and instead focus on fostering unity and harmony among all communities. He emphasized that Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind has always worked to unite all sections of society and now calls on people of all faiths to raise their voices collectively against this decision.
