Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind(M) Condemns Introduction of Waqf Bill in Parliament

New Delhi: Reacting to the introduction of the Waqf Amendment Bill in Parliament, Maulana Mahmood Asad Madani, President of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind (M), strongly condemned the move, stating that the proposed bill is unconstitutional and a blatant violation of fundamental rights. He accused the government of attempting to push it through solely on the basis of its numerical majority, disregarding democratic principles and due process. According to him, this approach reflects a majoritarian mindset that undermines the rights of minorities and threatens the foundational values of justice and equality.
Maulana Madani criticized the bill for being introduced in a forceful and arbitrary manner, with a clear intention of curtailing minority rights. He asserted that its framing and intent expose a deeply prejudiced attitude toward the Muslim community. While Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind (M) has consistently advocated for constructive improvements in the existing law, the proposed amendments, instead of addressing genuine concerns, will only exacerbate existing challenges and create further complications.
As a representative of the minority community, Maulana Madani categorically rejected the bill in its entirety, declaring that it is unacceptable in any form. He affirmed that they would oppose it at every level. He further vowed that the struggle against this injustice would continue through all legal and peaceful means, emphasizing that they would not remain silent in the face of such an attack on minority rights.
