Najibabad: The Jamiat Ulama Meman Bhanera has formally expressed its discontent regarding recent comments made by Maulana Mahmood Madani in an interview, which have sparked concern among the Muslim community in India.
In a statement addressed to Maulana Madani, the organization conveyed its disappointment over his remarks concerning Barrister Asaduddin Owaisi. The statement asserts that it disagrees with Madani’s characterization of Owaisi’s supporters as “foolish” and “crazy,” emphasizing that such statements are unbecoming of a leader. The letter highlights that significant figures, including members of the Darul Uloom Deoband, have participated in Owaisi’s gatherings, questioning whether they too would be labelled as foolish.
Additionally, the statement criticized Madani’s comments regarding the National Register of Citizens (NRC), suggesting that his remarks have raised doubts about his intentions and position. The Jamiat Ulama Meman Bhanera firmly stated that the Muslim community in India categorically rejects the NRC, indicating that Madani’s interview has disheartened millions of Muslims across the country.
As a result of these concerns, the organization announced its decision to withdraw from its affiliation with the Jamiat-i-Ulama Hind and expressed disagreement with Madani’s policies. The statement concluded by reaffirming that the primary mission of Jamiat-i-Ulama Hind should be to unite Muslims rather than divide them.
The letter was signed by Muhammad Ahsan Quraishi, Imam and Khateeb, Jamia Sirani Kord, and Maulana Muhammad Ahmad Hamani Qalai, on behalf of the Jamiat Ulama Meman Bhanera, Najibabad, District Bijnor, on September 27, 2024.
