Jamiat Urges Immediate Action against BJP MLAs for Inciting Violence

New Delhi: Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind(M) has called for swift disciplinary and legal action against BJP MLAs Nand Kishore Gurjar (Loni, Ghaziabad) and Dr. Shalabh Mani Tripathi (Deoria) over their recent inflammatory statements. The organization also renewed its demand for the arrest and punishment of Yati Narsinghanand, who has been accused of making blasphemous remarks about Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

In a letter addressed to BJP President JP Nadda and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Jamiat President Maulana Mahmood Madani condemned the provocative remarks made by the two BJP legislators, warning that such statements “add fuel to the fire” at a time when public sentiment is already inflamed by Narsinghanand’s blasphemous comments. He stressed that such rhetoric could further disrupt peace and harmony in the region.

Maulana Madani expressed alarm over Nand Kishore Gurjar’s call for police to open fire on protesters and his suggestion that those not arrested should be “killed in encounters.” Gurjar’s defense of Narsinghanand’s hateful speech, characterizing it as being made “in anger,” was also strongly criticized. Similarly, Dr. Shalabh Mani Tripathi’s incendiary comments, shared on X, have exacerbated tensions.

“These are not mere political statements; they are direct threats to the peace and unity of our country. It’s the government’s duty to address public concerns and ensure justice, but instead, we see elected representatives calling for violence,” Maulana Madani stated.

JUH has already taken legal action against Narsinghanand, filing multiple FIRs in various states. However, no arrests have been made so far. “It is disheartening to witness BJP MLAs supporting someone like Narsinghanand, whose actions are tarnishing the country’s image,” added Maulana Madani.

Meanwhile, Jamiat’s General Secretary, Maulana Hakeemuddin Qasmi, submitted a formal complaint to the Ghaziabad Police Commissioner, urging the registration of an FIR against Gurjar. The complaint highlights the MLA’s history of making inflammatory statements, including his controversial slogan during the 2022 assembly elections.

The complaint calls for action under the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, specifically Sections 196(a), 197(c) & (d), and 352, which pertain to promoting enmity between religious groups and inciting communal discord.
