New Delhi: Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind (M) has pledged to scale up its initiatives to address the rising incidents of hate crimes and Islamophobia in the country. The announcement came during the fifth two-day State Consultative Meeting held at Darul Uloom Garigaon, Guwahati.
The meeting, which convened prominent Jamiat leaders from across India, focused on key issues affecting the Muslim community and reaffirmed the organisation’s core ideological commitments.
A major outcome of the meeting was the decision to intensify efforts against hate crimes and Islamophobic incidents. Delegates from all states were instructed to document such cases systematically. State-level committees were established to monitor and respond to these issues effectively.
Additionally, a special committee was formed in Assam to address violence and hate speech, particularly in light of the BJP-led government’s policies targeting minorities.
Maulana Badruddin Ajmal, President of JUH(M) Assam, delivered a powerful address on the challenges facing the Muslim community in Assam, particularly regarding the National Register of Citizens (NRC). He celebrated the recent Supreme Court decision as a major victory, acknowledging it as the culmination of over 14 years of Jamiat’s relentless efforts.
In his keynote address, Maulana Mahmood Madani, President of JUH(M), reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to constructive, principle-based action. “Jamiat has never succumbed to emotional politics,” he emphasised. “We focus on building strong foundations in education, culture, and the economy, as no community can progress without these pillars.”
The gathering addressed a broad spectrum of issues, including organisational development, membership growth, and combating Islamophobia. Key resolutions included preparing a comprehensive document to articulate Jamiat’s ideological stance and expanding training and educational initiatives with a series of programs planned in model districts over the next six months.
The meeting also reviewed Jamiat’s work over the past six months.
