The Janseva Cooperative Credit Society Limited on Monday hosted a significant event to distribute loan cheques to members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) at its headquarters in Colaba, Mumbai. The ceremony was graced by the presence of esteemed guest Mufti Abdul Qadir Barkatullah, a prominent Islamic scholar and member of the UK Fatwa Committee, who had travelled from the United Kingdom for the occasion. Dr. Rahmatullah, Chairman of Janseva Cooperative Credit Society, and Sheikh Mohammad Saleem, National President of Federation of Indian Trade Unions, were also present.
Addressing the gathering, Mufti Barkatullah emphasised the importance of self-reliance, stating, “The giving hand is better than the receiving hand.” He urged attendees to avoid interest-based transactions while pursuing their goals and encouraged them to support others once their own needs are met.
Sheikh Mohammad Saleem highlighted the cooperative nature of the loans provided, explaining that these loans are given based on mutual guarantees. He emphasised that the initiative aims to promote social cooperation and empower women and other vulnerable sections of society to achieve economic self-sufficiency.
The event concluded with a special prayer led by Mufti Barkatullah for freedom from debt, followed by an interactive session where he addressed various questions from participants, providing valuable guidance.
This initiative by the Janseva Cooperative Credit Society marks a significant step towards social upliftment, spreading awareness about financial assistance and self-reliance, and empowering communities to progress economically.
