Jaunpur: A disturbing case of alleged religious discrimination has emerged from the District Hospital in Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh. A pregnant Muslim woman, Shama Parveen, accused a hospital doctor of denying her treatment because of her faith.
According to her family, Shama was admitted around 9 AM for delivery but was left unattended for hours. When her husband, Arman, questioned the delay, the doctor allegedly said she “would not treat Muslim patients.” The family claims that another Muslim woman in the maternity ward was also denied care the same day.
Arman said the doctor’s remarks and refusal to provide treatment endangered his wife’s life. “She ignored my wife despite repeated requests,” he said. “It was clear we were being discriminated against.”
Witnesses at the hospital reported similar accounts of neglect. They said the doctor’s actions reflected a pattern of bias rather than an isolated incident.
The family has demanded that the doctor be suspended and that the hospital issue a public apology. They have also called for a district-level inquiry into the alleged communal discrimination within the hospital.
As of now, neither the hospital administration nor the district authorities have released an official statement. The silence from officials has drawn anger from local residents and rights groups who view the incident as a dangerous sign of growing intolerance in public institutions.
