Jharkhand Minority Commission Directs Education Department to Form Madrasa Board and Urdu Academy

Ranchi: The Jharkhand State Minority Commission has directed the Education Department to prepare a proposal within one month for the establishment of a Madrasa Board and an Urdu Academy. At present, examinations for madrasa students are conducted by the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC). Once the Madrasa Board is formed, the responsibility will shift to the board itself.

In a meeting with officials from the School and Higher Education Departments, the commission also instructed the creation of a committee to recommend how Aalim and Fazil degrees will receive recognition at the university level. The committee has been asked to prepare its report within one month so that it can be placed before the state government. The commission emphasized that students who obtained these degrees up to 2025 should not face any disadvantage and that the government must safeguard their interests.

During the discussions, consensus was reached on nine issues. Minority Commission Chairperson Jyoti Singh Matharu said that students studying in minority schools from Classes 1 to 8 should receive the same facilities as students of government schools. These include school kits, bicycles, uniforms, and laboratory material kits. The departments have been asked to prepare proposals for this purpose.

The commission also directed that application forms for minority status must be made available at the offices of the Primary Education and Higher Education Directors. Further, minority institutions that received certificates prior to the formation of Jharkhand should continue to be recognized without disruption.
