30 July 2024: A serious train derailment occurred in Jharkhand early Tuesday morning when several coaches of the Howrah-Mumbai Express derailed, killing at least two passengers and injuring countless others. The derailment took place around 3:45 AM near Badabamboo, roughly 80 kilometers from Jamshedpur, within the Chakradhatpur Division of South East Railway.
Reports indicate that 10 to 12 coaches of the Mumbai-Howrah Mail were affected by the derailment. The injured passengers received immediate medical attention at the scene and are being transferred to Chakradharpur for further treatment. Rescue operations are currently underway as the situation is being assessed.
