JIH Andaman Women’s Wing Organized ‘Morality is Freedom’ Campaign

The Women’s Wing of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Andaman, organized the nationwide campaign, “Morality is Freedom” at Sri Vijayapuram (Port Blair) on Wednesday. The campaign, attended by approximately 200 participants, focused on exploring the vital relationship between morality and freedom, particularly in today’s rapidly changing world.

The event began with recitation of Quranic verses, accompanied by its translation by Hafsa, President of Women’s Wing in Nayapuram, and Rehana. The recitation emphasized the foundational role of moral teachings in achieving personal and societal freedom.

PK Zainab, President JIH-Women’s Wing, Andaman, delivered the inaugural speech. She emphasized the role of morality as a guiding principle that enhances one’s ability to exercise freedom with responsibility. According to her, freedom is not about unrestrained actions but about making morally grounded decisions that benefit both the individual and society.

C Haseena provided a brief overview of the campaign, explaining its objectives and highlighting the necessity of raising awareness about how morality can lead to genuine freedom. She pointed out that in the modern era, the understanding of freedom often gets conflated with permissiveness, and campaigns like this are essential to set the narrative straight.

The special guest, Jyoti Chattwal, Inspector and SHO of Anti-Human Trafficking Unit, delivered a talk on “Ethics and Freedom in Today’s Scenario,” stating how the erosion of ethical values has led to societal issues like human trafficking and crime. Her address was a call to action for upholding moral principles as a way to ensure safety and true liberty in the community.

A soulful performance by Shabana and her team brought an artistic element to the event, captivating the audience and reinforcing the campaign’s message through song.

Ashifa Yunus, Ex-President of Girls Islamic Organization (GIO), spoke on “How to Attain Freedom while Upholding Morality and Its Challenges in Modern Times.” She pointed out the complexities faced by today’s youth, where modern influences often blur the lines between freedom and moral boundaries. Her speech called for a return to ethical principles, even amidst evolving social norms.

Anuradha Lal, President of Gandhi Global Society, gave an insightful speech on “How to Uphold Morality along with Freedom in Family Life.” Drawing from the life of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, she shared practical examples of balancing personal freedom with moral obligations in the family setting, encouraging the audience to follow these timeless principles.

Geeta Naveen Bhatt from Education Department shared her valuable words, reiterating the importance of instilling moral values through education and family upbringing. She emphasized that it’s time to take action collectively.
