JIH-CAC Calls for Government Focus on Core Issues, Urges Attention to Democratic Values Post-2024 LS Elections

New Delhi, June 27: The Central Advisory Council of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) has issued a strong call for the government to address the fundamental issues facing the people, following the recent 2024 Lok Sabha elections. During its meeting from June 23-25, 2024, the council passed several resolutions reflecting on the election outcomes.

JIH’s Central Advisory Council interprets the 2024 parliamentary election results as a public mandate favoring democracy over aristocracy, constitutional principles over sectarianism, and inclusiveness over division. The council believes the electorate has opted for a coalition government led by the NDA, coupled with a robust opposition, rather than reinstating the ruling party. JIH emphasizes that the government must heed this mandate and implement necessary policy reforms accordingly.

The council noted the BJP’s losses in the Northern and Western regions due to its ideological stance, contrasting with its strengthened presence in the South. The JIH highlighted the increased responsibility of Southern states to prevent the spread of sectarianism and maintain harmony, which has been compromised in other parts of the country.

In Uttar Pradesh, voters expressed their disapproval of the prevailing atmosphere of religious fanaticism and oppression. The council commended the electorate for rejecting these divisive trends through their votes.

JIH also urged opposition parties to recognize the importance of their alliance in achieving electoral success. The council noted that the public’s trust in the opposition grew when they took a firm stand against sectarianism and divisive politics. Success was observed in states where opposition parties boldly opposed these trends, while failure occurred where they wavered.

The Central Advisory Council praised civil society’s role in the elections, acknowledging their efforts to uphold democracy, maintain communal peace, and resist oppressive policies. The council also commended the Dalit and backward communities for voting with a focus on fundamental issues and constitutional protection, leading to positive outcomes.

The council lauded the Muslim community for their wisdom and patience during the elections, despite attempts to mislead and harass them. The council appealed to the community to continue their prudent approach and appreciated the efforts of Muslim religious and social organizations, scholars, and youth.

JIH called on both the Central Government and the Opposition to respect the people’s mandate, focus on core issues, and uphold democratic values and traditions. The council reminded the government of its responsibility to ensure equal rights for all citizens and avoid fostering sectarian and class conflicts.

JIH emphasized the increased responsibility of secular parties within the NDA to ensure adherence to democratic principles and address the concerns of all societal sections. The council urged the promotion of policies that ensure fair resource distribution and empower marginalized communities, while respecting minority rights, particularly those of Muslims.
