JIH Calls on New Delhi Government to Prioritize Inclusive Development and Justice

New Delhi : The Vice President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH), Malik Moatasim Khan, has outlined key expectations from the newly elected Delhi government, urging it to transform the national capital into a model city that upholds justice, inclusivity, and sustainable development.
In a statement following the Delhi State elections, Malik Moatasim Khan highlighted the shortcomings of the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, which ruled Delhi for over a decade. He criticized AAP for failing to take a clear ideological stand on crucial issues such as social justice and minority rights. “Despite holding power for two consecutive terms, AAP remained a silent spectator on multiple occasions when the constitutional rights of Delhi’s citizens, particularly the Muslim minority, were under threat,” he remarked.
While acknowledging AAP’s focus on welfare schemes and subsidies, Khan argued that these measures were insufficient to sustain public confidence. He pointed out the party’s unfulfilled promises regarding clean drinking water, environmental cleanliness, landfill removal, garbage management, women’s safety, and housing for slum dwellers. He also alleged that developmental initiatives were implemented in a discriminatory manner in Muslim-majority areas, contributing to AAP’s electoral setbacks.
Reflecting on the election results, Khan asserted that no political party can sustain itself without ideological clarity, a strong political vision, and an unwavering commitment to constitutional values. He also blamed the INDIA alliance’s failure on the inability of AAP and Congress to establish a cohesive electoral strategy, emphasizing the need for long-term strategic unity rather than short-term political calculations.
Looking ahead, the JIH leader called upon the new government to focus on making Delhi a model city with special attention to environmental sustainability, waste management, infrastructure development, and women’s safety. “Delhi must be developed into a ‘People-Friendly, Inclusive, and Well-Organized Urban Space’ and set an example of progressive and sustainable urban governance at the global level,” he stated.
JIH also urged the government to adopt welfare-oriented policies, particularly for the underprivileged, and to ensure communal harmony by prioritizing the development of minority-concentrated areas. “Governance must rise above petty politics, uphold moral and constitutional principles, and work toward justice and inclusivity,” Khan added.
Reaffirming JIH’s commitment to social service and nation-building, he stated that while the organization would support positive initiatives, its cooperation would be based on principles of truth and justice. He concluded by urging the new government to focus on ethical governance and the collective well-being of all citizens.
The statement was issued by Salman Ahmad, National Assistant Secretary of the Media Department, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Headquarters.
