New Delhi: Jamaat e Islami Hind President Syed Sadatullah Husaini has expressed deep sorrow over the killing of Ayatollah Imam Ali Khamenei, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran. He described the incident as a targeted assassination during recent United States and Israeli military strikes in Tehran.
In a media statement, Husaini conveyed condolences to the people of Iran during the period of national mourning. He also extended prayers for patience and strength to the bereaved family members, including Khamenei’s daughter and other relatives who lost their lives in the strike.
Husaini said Ayatollah Khamenei led Iran for over three decades after assuming office in 1989 following the demise of Ayatollah Imam Ruhollah Khomeini. He stated that Khamenei shaped Iran’s political and ideological direction and stood for national sovereignty and resistance to foreign domination. He added that the killing during the holy month of Ramadan has caused grief across the Muslim world.
The JIH President strongly condemned the attack. He called it a violation of international law and an assault on state sovereignty. He said the United States and Israel must face accountability before the international community. He urged global institutions to halt further aggression against Iran and address the escalation with urgency.
Husaini called for those responsible for initiating the strike to be brought before the International Court of Justice. He stressed that peace and stability depend on respect for national sovereignty and justice in international relations.
