JIH Condemns US Military Action Against Venezuela, Calls It Threat to Global Order

New Delhi: Jamaat-e-Islami Hind President Syed Sadatullah Husaini has condemned the recent military action by the United States against Venezuela, calling it an assault on national sovereignty and international law. He described the operation as a dangerous step that threatens global peace and stability.

In a statement to the media, Husaini said the reported military strikes and the arrest and forced deportation of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro to the United States violate the United Nations Charter. He said the use of force without approval from the UN Security Council or a valid claim of self defence sets a harmful precedent. Such actions, he said, weaken the international system and place smaller nations at risk of coercion by powerful states.

Husaini said the episode cannot be separated from Venezuela’s vast oil reserves, estimated at nearly 300 billion barrels. He also referred to Venezuela’s efforts to sell oil in currencies other than the US dollar, which he said challenged American economic dominance and shaped the current confrontation. He stressed that criminal allegations or political disputes do not justify military invasion or regime change.

The JIH President described the operation as neo imperial conduct with the potential to destabilise Venezuela and the wider Latin American region. He warned that past interventions of this nature have led to prolonged unrest, civilian suffering, and weakened democratic institutions rather than peace.

Husaini expressed concern over the steady erosion of the UN based international order due to repeated unilateral military actions. He welcomed calls for an urgent UN Security Council meeting and urged sustained international pressure to stop further escalation and ensure accountability.

He affirmed Venezuela’s right to sovereignty, territorial integrity, and self determination. He also called on India to oppose the US action openly and support peaceful solutions through dialogue and multilateral forums. He said silence in such moments strengthens future violations.
