JIH Delhi Women’s Wing Hosts Media Orientation Workshop

The Media Department of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Delhi organised a media workshop for women on Sunday. Around 40 girls and ladies, interested in the field, attended and benefited from the informative and effective workshop. The galaxy of speakers included: Dr. Khan Yasir, Mohd. Irshad Alam, Salimullah Khan, Dr. Fatimah Tanveer, Dr. Hafsa Tasneem and Uzma Ausaf. The workshop was conducted in the media hall of JIH Markaz.

The main topics of the workshop were “Content Writing: Practical Guidelines” by Dr. Khan Yasir and “Utilising digital media” by Mohd. Irshad Alam. Both the speakers introduced basic understanding of these topics through PPT and interacted with the audience.

Dr. Khan Yasir (Media Secretary, JIH Delhi) discussed the importance and permanence of written communication; and guided the audience regarding the fundamentals of writing letters to editor, reports, essays, and short stories. He asserted that anybody can write with a pen and paper and a will to write. He ended his session with an activity where all the participants were told to write an article, report or essay in the allotted time.

The second session on digital media was conducted by Mohd. Irshad Alam (Asst. Media Secretary, JIH Delhi). He focused on the emerging platform of media i.e. digital media and discussed its various aspects like audio, video, text and image. Further explaining different types of digital media and all the equipment and necessities.

The programme commenced with Tazkeer bil Quran by Dr. Hafsa Tasneem where she talked about the Islamic perspective about media and news. The inaugural words were delivered by Dr. Fatimah Tanveer (Asst. Secretary, JIH Delhi).

Salimullah Khan (Ameer e Halqa, JIH Delhi) gave the concluding address where he enlightened the participants and encouraged them to come forward in this field.

The programme also included a mutual introduction of all participants and an open session where doubts and questions were cleared.

Uzma Ausaf extended thanks to the audience. The programme came to an end with promising words of the organisers to carry forward the momentum and conduct the follow-up workshops in the future.
