JIH Goa Women’s Wing Launches ‘Morality is Freedom’ Campaign

Panjim, Goa, Sep 6: The “Morality is Freedom” campaign had a memorable start on a warm afternoon at Z Square here last Sunday. This event, organized with dedication and care by convenors Madiha Shah and Madiha Khan, brought together people from all walks of life to reflect on the essential role that morals play in our society.

The gathering began on a serene note with the recitation of the Quran setting a reflective and peaceful tone for the rest of the program.

Mrs. Rafsila Khan, in her inaugural address, spoke passionately about how morals are the foundation of a just and free society. In her words, “Morality isn’t just about personal integrity; it’s about protecting the freedoms that we all cherish.”

Mrs. Khan also introduced the activities planned for the month-long campaign, inviting everyone present to join in. She also unveiled the campaign’s logo, explaining how each element represented the core values they hoped to promote.

Ms. Tallulah D’Silva took to the stage next, sharing a touching account of her personal journey. She spoke about her belief that every person is born with innate goodness, a sentiment that clearly resonated with the audience. Her heartfelt words were a reminder of the kindness we all carry within us.

Following Ms. D’Silva, Mrs. Pratibha Borkar offered a perspective rooted in Hindu scriptures. She talked about how true Hinduism places a strong emphasis on morality. Her talk helped demystify what it means to live a morally upright life, regardless of religious affiliation, and invited the audience to reflect on these values in their daily lives.

A particularly uplifting part of the program was the Tarana performed by a group of enthusiastic young students. Their voices, filled with hope and joy, captured the essence of the campaign’s message: that goodness and morality are qualities to be celebrated and nurtured.

Mrs. Sharmin Khan then engaged the audience with a thought-provoking discussion. She critically explored Darwin’s theory of evolution, emphasizing how it overlooks the emotional and spiritual aspects that make us human. She expressed concern over how the entertainment industry often glorifies negative behaviors, and she made a compelling case for why moral education should be as fundamental in schools as any other subject. Her closing words, “We are not just evolved beings; we are the finest creation of God,” left a strong impact on those present.

To honor the contributions of the speakers, the Mushawrati (Consultative) Committee presented mementos, adding a personal touch to the occasion and marking the appreciation felt by all.

The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Adv. Afreen Khan. She expressed her gratitude to the speakers, organizers, and everyone who attended, acknowledging the shared commitment to making the world a better place through moral integrity.

The inaugural event of the “Morality is Freedom” campaign was more than just a formal gathering; it was a coming together of like-minded individuals united by a common belief in the power of good. As the attendees left the venue, there was a palpable sense of inspiration and a shared resolve to carry forward the campaign’s message in their own lives.
