New Delhi, May 1, 2024: In a collaborative effort with the Delhi Haj Committee, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) facilitated a thorough training program for pilgrims selected for the Hajj pilgrimage to Makkah. The one-day session, held at Masjid Ishaat-e-Islam within the JIH headquarters, welcomed approximately 250-300 pilgrims.
Chairperson of the Delhi State Haj Committee, Kausar Jahan, extended heartfelt congratulations to the pilgrims, emphasizing the significance of the recently launched Haj Suvidha App in facilitating their journey. Plans were unveiled for the establishment of an air-conditioned Haj camp at Ramlila Maidan to accommodate pilgrims before their departure.
Delhi State Haj Committee Executive Officer, Ashfaq Ahmed Arfi, revealed that out of 4,082 Haj applications received, 3,016 individuals were selected through a digitalized random selection process, while 1,066 applicants were placed on the waiting list.
With a total quota of 1,75,025 pilgrims from India finalized for Haj 2024, Arfi disclosed that 1,40,020 seats were reserved for pilgrims through the Haj Committee of India, with an additional 35,005 seats allocated to private Haj Group Operators.
Indira Gandhi International Airport, serving as the largest Haj embarkation point, anticipates approximately 22,000 pilgrims to depart from Delhi. The Delhi State Haj Committee assured to provide all necessary local facilities to ensure a seamless journey.
The first batch of pilgrims is slated to depart for Madinah from the Delhi airport on May 9, with subsequent departures continuing until May 25. This inaugural batch comprises around 16,500 Haj pilgrims, including 3,200 from Delhi.
JIH Assistant Secretary, Inamurrahman Khan, emphasized the pilgrims’ spiritual journey’s acceptance in the sight of Allah, while JIH National Secretary, Dr. Mohiuddin Ghazi, urged them to prioritize spiritual growth and adherence to Hajj’s core objectives.
Noted scholar Mufti Shameem Qasmi provided detailed guidance on Haj and Umrah rituals, while Anwar Khurshid, a Haj trainer, discussed logistical aspects and encouraged pilgrims to download essential apps such as Nusuk and Haj Suvidha.
Ms. Nazia Danish, a member of the Delhi Haj Committee, extended her congratulations to the pilgrims, as officials collectively wished them a safe and successful journey.
With this final training session, the Delhi Haj Committee and Jamaat-e-Islami Hind have ensured that pilgrims are well-prepared for their 42-day journey, promising a seamless and spiritually enriching experience.
