Beed: On April 2, a delegation from Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Maharashtra, led by Sheikh Abdul Mujeeb, visited the Makkah Masjid in Ardhamasla village, Beed, where a blast had occurred. The purpose of the visit was to gather details about the incident and to console the local people. The delegation interacted with the locals to understand the situation.
The delegation members urged the people to remain hopeful in these circumstances and continue legal efforts to ensure the culprits are punished under constitutional provisions. Meetings were also held with both the Muslim community and people from other faiths. The delegation met with the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Beed and obtained updates on the legal proceedings.
The delegation included Shakir (District Nazim from Jalna), Abdul Waheed, Syed Iftikhar (District Nazim, Beed), Sheikh Muneer, Abdul Majid Khan (Local Ameer, Majalgaon), Dr. Siraj Khan (Media Secretary), and several others from various organisations. During the meeting, the SP of Beed assured the delegation that the perpetrators would not be spared.
Abdul Mujeeb Sheikh urged the Maharashtra government to take strict action against those responsible for the blast under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and to ensure severe punishment for the culprits. He emphasised that stringent legal actions should be taken. He pointed out that while the Chief Minister has assured that no one will be spared, it is crucial to ensure this commitment is implemented in reality.
He also raised concerns about the recurrence of such incidents and questioned the involvement of certain elements behind them. Furthermore, he criticised a Maharashtra minister who has been openly spreading hatred against Muslims across the state without facing any action.
It is noteworthy that on Sunday, March 29, a blast occurred in the Makkah Masjid of Ardhamasla village, Beed, causing significant damage to the mosque’s interior. The police have arrested two individuals, Vijay Rama Gavhane (22) and Sriram Ashok Sagde (24), in connection with the incident. The police revealed that the accused carried out the blast, using gelatin sticks.
On this occasion, the delegation members stated that Jamaat-e-Islami Hind’s legal wing, Association for Protection of Civil Rights (APCR), will closely monitor the legal proceedings related to the case. Additionally, JIH Maharashtra, will assist in the mosque’s repair.
Sheikh Abdul Mujeeb clarified that he does not support “bulldozer justice,” as punishment should be given to the guilty, not their families. The delegation also praised the police administration and the local community for their efforts in swiftly arresting the culprits and preventing any communal unrest.
