Mumbai: The President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH), Maharashtra Maulana Ilyas Khan Falahi has voiced concern over attempts to spoil communal harmony in Maharashtra.
Maulana Ilyas Falahi, in a statement, said, “The alarming rise in communal disturbances across Maharashtra is a deeply troubling reality that demands immediate attention and action. From Bhiwandi to Buldhana, Akola to Latur, the frequency of these incidents is steadily increasing. At the root of this issue lies the growing intolerance and hatred in our society. It is evident that inflammatory speeches being made in the state are fueling this dangerous escalation of violence. In some cases, even blasphemous remarks have been made against the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ which reflects a deep moral crisis in the larger society.
“While we acknowledge that the police have taken timely action in some cases, their efforts, in our view, remain insufficient. The deteriorating conditions in the state are a direct result of political strategies rooted in hatred and self-interest. Some divisive forces are exploiting the situation for personal gain, disregarding the welfare of the people and the unity of the nation.”
The JIH Maharashtra President averred, “We firmly believe that those spreading hatred and inciting violence must be held accountable. It is imperative that the courts take suo moto action against these individuals and issue arrest warrants. Furthermore, we remind government officials of their duty to the nation, society, and its people. By allowing such inflammatory acts to continue, they are failing in their responsibility to uphold the values of justice and peace. The current climate is creating severe hardships for ordinary citizens, and it is time for the conscience of society to awaken. Silence in the face of such a grave situation is not an option. We call upon all sections of society – lawyers, community leaders, and citizens from all backgrounds to raise their voices. This is not a matter of concern for just one community, but a critical issue that threatens the integrity and future of our entire nation. It is only through unity, justice, and collective action that we can overcome these challenges and ensure a peaceful and harmonious society for all.”
