Mumbai: A grand Women’s Festival titled “Zeenat Tum Se, Azmat Tum Se” (Grace from You, Greatness from You) was held at Haqani Marriage Ground, Kurla on Saturday, under the aegis of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Mumbai Women’s Department and Girls Islamic Organisation (GIO) Mumbai.
The one-day event featured various competitions designed for homemakers and young women, including table décor painting, floral arrangement, embroidery, calligraphy, and henna art. Women enthusiastically participated in these activities, showcasing their talents.
A special exhibition highlighted aspects of Islamic teachings through models and displays on the life of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, women’s responsibilities in society, the Quran as a miracle, Islamic lifestyle, Prophetic medicine, and physical health.
Cultural programmes also enriched the festival, with performances by groups from areas like Govandi, Tagore Nagar, and Kurla East, presenting skits and action songs. A podcast on hijab was presented by the Ghatkopar Azad Nagar team, while the Kurla West and Park Site CIO girls performed motivational anthems.
Prizes and certificates were awarded to participants at the conclusion of the competitions. Family counsellor and NLP coach Mubashshira Firdous spoke on “Zeenat Tum Se, Azmat Tum Se,” emphasising the significance of women as nurturers of generations. Mumbai Metro Nazima Mumtaz Nazir delivered the concluding address, titled “Today, Islam Alone is Your Protector.”
The festival aimed to reconnect women with their Islamic identity, highlighting their unique role in maintaining modesty, purity, and family values while addressing societal responsibilities. Organisers stressed that Islam provides women unparalleled dignity and protection, urging them to prioritise their faith over worldly distractions.
