JIH Muzaffarpur Hosts Magnificent Seerat-un-Nabi Conference

– Md Sami Ahmad

Patna: Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Muzaffarpur organised a splendid Seerat-un-Nabi conference on September 21. A large number of men and women participated, with more women than men in attendance.

A limited number of fellow citizens also attended the programme, including the guest speaker Professor Pramod Kumar, a professor in the Hindi Department at BRA Bihar University, Muzaffarpur. He delivered a nice speech, sharing the knowledge he had and expressing regret that he received the relevant books quite late. He emphasised that everyone should study the Seerat-un-Nabi.

Professor Pramod advised Muslims, saying, “You should tell us how Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was. We don’t know.” Incidentally, he also mentioned the ongoing Israeli genocide in Gaza, expressing deep pain over the silence of global powers and their lack of interest in stopping the war. He further expressed displeasure at the indifference of Muslim leadership.

The local Ameer, Dr. Mahmood-ul-Hasan, delivered a brief speech in which he eloquently explained that Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was sent as a prophet for all humanity, and his teachings remain practical and relevant for all people until the Day of Judgment.

Maulana Ghulam Sarwar Nadi also enlightened the audience. His speech was in chaste Hindi, keeping the non-Muslim audience in mind.

Presiding over the conference, Maulana Rizwan Ahmed Islahi, Ameer-e-Halqa JIH Bihar emphasised that we should study the Seerat so that we can shape our own character in its light. He said, “The life of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ offers comprehensive guidance for every aspect of life, be it personal, societal, individual, collective, educational, economic, or even political.”

Maulana Rizwan opined that the rulers and political leaders should benefit from this guidance. He substantiated his points with several incidents from the Seerat as evidence and arguments. While pointing out the shortcomings of the world, the nation, and the Muslim community, he urged everyone to seek solutions from the Seerat.

Maulana Rizwan concluded that the 23-year Seerat cannot be fully expressed or encompassed in a short time. “Therefore, one should study the Seerat meticulously with the intention of shaping one’s character in its light. Individuals, society, and the state should all be moulded according to the Seerat. This is the true demand of love and devotion to the Prophet ﷺ,” said the Ameer-e-Halqa. He asked to demonstrate the “I love Muhammad” sentiment through both words and actions.

He added, “Those who, God forbid, do not love the Prophet and knowingly or unknowingly commit blasphemies against him should also be introduced to the Seerat-un-Nabi to clear their misconceptions. Tell them that Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is a radiant lamp, and they too should benefit from his light.”

The programme began with Quranic recitation with its translation.

Renowned poet Professor Kamran Ghani Saba recited just two verses of his self-composed Naat, and the entire audience listened with rapt attention. The proceedings were conducted by Mr. Hashsham Tariq, who used words and sentences with great care, blending Urdu and Hindi seamlessly.

The organisers of the conference included all members and workers of JIH Muzaffarpur. Individuals like Syed Ali, Khalid Saifullah, Professor Salman, Ahraz, Zeba Aftab, and Ishrat Mahmood were actively involved.
