New Delhi: To fast-track the uploading and registration of Waqf property details on the government’s “Umeed Portal,” Jamaat-e-Islami Hind has launched a dedicated Waqf Help Desk (Back-End Support System) at its headquarters. The facility, designed to support mutawallis (waqf managers), mosque imams, and administrators of religious institutions, was formally inaugurated by JIH National President Syed Sadatullah Husaini.
In his address, Husaini described the protection of Waqf properties as a “serious collective challenge” for the Muslim community and stressed the need for united efforts. He noted that Jamaat-e-Islami’s Waqf Department has long been active in this field, both at the national level and in several states where registration work is already underway.
With limited time left and an enormous volume of properties to be registered, he urged the establishment of similar support centres across the country to accelerate the process. Referring to the Supreme Court’s interim directive, he emphasised that uploading all Waqf property records on the WAMSI (Waqf Asset Management System of India) Portal has become a mandatory step to meet the official deadline.
Husaini made it clear that completing the registration does not signify relinquishing the fight against the controversial Waqf Amendment Act. “Our legal battle against this unjust legislation will continue alongside the registration process,” he asserted.
Introducing the Help Desk, its coordinator, Inamur Rahman Khan, pointed out that Waqf documentation and data submission on the Umeed Portal have posed significant challenges. The Help Desk, he said, has been established precisely to overcome these hurdles and provide comprehensive assistance. He also highlighted that Jamaat-e-Islami Hind has organised robust structural arrangements by setting up Waqf Cells at the state level to ensure organised and efficient implementation.
Rahman added that a permanent helpline has been activated under the supervision of the Central Help Desk and State Waqf Cells, where legal experts, Waqf specialists, and trained field workers are offering real-time guidance to field volunteers. Participants at the event were encouraged to build strong volunteer networks and monitoring units at the local level. Each region was advised to form Waqf Protection Committees comprising youth, government employees, and responsible community members to keep watch against illegal encroachments and ensure proper documentation and registration.
On the occasion, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind also issued comprehensive guidelines for uploading Waqf data to the Umeed Portal.
