JIH President Syed Sadatullah Husaini Calls on India and Global Powers to Intervene and Halt Gaza Genocide

New Delhi: Syed Sadatullah Husaini, President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH), has strongly condemned the worsening humanitarian crisis and alleged genocide in Gaza, urging both the Indian government and the international community to act swiftly to halt the Israeli offensive.
In a powerful statement released to the media, Husaini described the situation in Gaza as catastrophic, citing the complete siege and relentless bombardment faced by more than 2.1 million Palestinians—half of whom are children. “Since the ceasefire collapsed on March 18, 2025, Israel has intensified its military campaign while maintaining a total blockade of essential supplies,” he stated.
Highlighting the critical conditions on the ground, the JIH President warned of an approaching famine and total collapse of life-support systems. “Ninety percent of Gaza’s medical facilities are either destroyed or non-functional. Thousands of tons of food and medical aid remain stranded at border crossings. Diseases such as hepatitis A, diarrhea, and respiratory infections are rampant due to lack of clean water and sanitation,” he said. He also noted that over 660,000 children are out of school and more than 17,000 have been orphaned or separated from their families. “If the siege continues, a full-scale famine is expected by September,” he cautioned.
Calling for urgent international action, Husaini emphasized, “This is a test for the global conscience. We urge all governments to cut military and economic ties with Israel, enforce the ICC’s arrest warrant against Prime Minister Netanyahu, and back the UN General Assembly’s resolution to end the illegal occupation.”
He criticized the inaction and double standards of Western powers, especially the United States. “It is time for America and its allies to go beyond empty rhetoric. Their silence and complicity are enabling the continuation of genocide,” he asserted.
Appealing to the Government of India, Husaini called for a return to its historical support for the Palestinian cause. “India must not remain silent. We urge the government to publicly denounce Israel’s actions, suspend all military cooperation with it, and support global efforts to hold the aggressors accountable. Neutrality in the face of genocide is not diplomacy—it is moral failure,” he declared.
He also appealed to the citizens of India to take a stand through peaceful means. “We call upon the people to raise their voices, boycott products of Israeli companies or those complicit in war crimes, and counter propaganda about the Palestinian struggle. Whether through social media, street protests, or conversations, we must stand with the people of Gaza and share their truth,” he said.
Syed Sadatullah Husaini concluded with a moral reminder: “This is not just about Palestine. It’s about humanity, justice, and truth. History will remember who spoke out and who remained silent.”
