JIH President Syed Sadatullah Husaini Urges Ulama to Guide and Reform the Nation alongside Intellectual Leadership

Aurangabad: The one-day convention of Majlis Ulama Tehreek-e-Islami, held at the Haj House here, called upon the Muslim Ummah to rise for the guidance and welfare of humanity. In his keynote and presidential address, Syed Sadatullah Husaini, National President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, outlined four key responsibilities of the Ulama: first, reform and education; second, intellectual and scholarly work; third, leadership and guidance; and fourth, representing Islam in diplomacy.

He asserted that the progress of Muslims is impossible without awakening the collective consciousness of the Ummah.

The Muslim community, he said, must stand for justice and fairness for all of humanity, with a mindset that encompasses the welfare of all 140-crore people of India. He stressed that Ulama must help shift the perspective of the community, as a negative outlook breeds despair within the Ummah. Instead, they should ignite the light of hope and optimism.

The convention, themed “If you help Allah, He will help you and make your foothold firm,” began with an opening speech by Mufti Kaleem Rahmani, who emphasized the importance of seeking guidance from the Quran in today’s challenging times. Citing Surah Ra’d, Ayat 11, which states, “Indeed, Allah does not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves,” Mufti Rahmani urged the attendees to draw strength and inspiration from the Quran.

Maulana Naseer Islahi, General Secretary of Majlis Ulama, presented a brief report on the organization’s 10-year journey since its establishment in 2014. He shared that Majlis Ulama also publishes a journal named Sawt-ul-Ulama. The primary mission of the organization, he highlighted, is to unite and mobilize Ulama for the glory of Allah’s name and to reconnect the Muslim community with their true purpose. He reiterated that the Ulama, as the inheritors of Prophets, have a heightened responsibility in these times.

Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Maharashtra’s Ameer, Maulana Ilyas Khan Falahi, addressed the topic “From the Present Muslim Society to the Desired Society.” He explained that change is a principle of nature, and nations that fail to adapt are consigned to the dustbin of history. The desired society, he elaborated, is one that works for the welfare of humanity and must be established on the foundation of justice and fairness, with Tawheed (monotheism) as its cornerstone.

Mufti Muhammad Ashfaq Qasmi, addressing the various aspects of Tameer-e-Millat (nation-building), explained that the formation of Majlis Ulama by Tehreek-e-Islami Hind is aimed at addressing the problems of the Muslim Ummah. He urged the Muslim community to work toward the establishment of educational institutions to safeguard the faith of their children from shirk (polytheism) and disbelief.

Dr. Saeed Faizi, Ameer of Jamiat Ahl-e-Hadith Maharashtra, speaking on “The Need for Cooperation and Unity in Religious and National Movements,” stressed that the Muslim community lacks sincerity, often prioritizing personal interests over the collective welfare of the Ummah. He questioned why, while false forces unite against Islam and Muslims, the Muslim community remains divided along narrow sectarian lines and fails to demonstrate unity.

Arif Umri, Vice President of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind Maharashtra, spoke on “The Revival of the True Role of Mosques.” He emphasized that mosques should be built on the foundation of piety, not sectarianism, and should serve as symbols of equality among Muslims.

Several prominent scholars, including Maulana Huzaifa Wastanvi and Maulana Nizamuddin Fakhruddin, also addressed the convention, which saw the participation of Ulama from across Maharashtra.
