JIH President, Syed Sadatullah Husaini Voices Anguish Over PM Modi’s Israel Visit Amid Gaza Crisis

New Delhi: The President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Syed Sadatullah Husaini, has expressed profound disappointment and grave concern over Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Israel and his public engagements with the Israeli leadership at a time when Gaza faces one of the gravest humanitarian catastrophes of our time.

In a statement to the media, Husaini said the Prime Minister’s address and public posture during the visit have disappointed millions of Indians who take pride in India’s historic role as a voice of justice and a defender of oppressed peoples. He pointed out that credible international human rights organizations, United Nations officials, and humanitarian agencies have described Israel’s actions in Gaza as war crimes, crimes against humanity, and acts consistent with genocide. In such a grave situation, he said, the absence of a clear and unambiguous condemnation caused pain and concern among citizens who expect moral clarity from their leadership.

Husaini recalled that India has opposed apartheid, colonial occupation, and racial discrimination across the world. He said India built its moral stature in global affairs through civilisational values rooted in justice, compassion, and solidarity with oppressed communities. According to him, people expected the Prime Minister to uphold this legacy during his visit. He added that Israel’s prolonged occupation of Palestinian lands, structural discrimination described by respected human rights groups as apartheid, and the large scale destruction and killing in Gaza represent a moral crisis for humanity. Public gestures of warmth with the Israeli leadership, without an equally clear expression of concern for Palestinian suffering, have caused anguish among many Indians.

The JIH President stressed that India’s freedom struggle was a moral struggle against colonial domination and injustice. He said India earned global respect through its commitment to truth, justice, and human dignity. Any silence or ambiguity in the face of mass suffering risks weakening that legacy and diminishing India’s credibility as a principled voice of the Global South. Reaffirming Jamaat-e-Islami Hind’s consistent stand, Husaini said the organization has always supported the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people based on universal values of liberty, dignity, and justice that also inspired India’s own struggle for independence.
