New Delhi, Sept. 5: In an event held at Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Headquarters, the organization’s President, Syed Sadatullah Husaini, unveiled a new book titled “Graceful Strength: Islamic Morality for Women,” authored by Dr. Shadab Munawar Moosa. The book, published by The Board of Islamic Publications, the publisher of Radiance, delves into the critical aspects of morality from an Islamic perspective, with a particular focus on women.
During the release, Husaini emphasized the urgent need for redefining moral philosophies to protect humanity, especially women, from moral degradation. He expressed a desire for the emergence of female leaders who could guide women toward contributing to the betterment of humanity, rather than being misled by malevolent influences.
“The message given by the author is clear. In order to save mankind, particularly women, from total ruin, we have to rethink our definitions and philosophies related to morality,” the Foreword of the book reads.
The book is expected to make a significant impact by addressing the detrimental effects of modern moral frameworks and advocating the Islamic model of morality as the most effective solution.
Dr. Javed Jamil, Chair in Islamic Studies and Research at Yenepoya University, Mangaluru, Karnataka, who wrote the Foreword, praised the author’s comprehensive examination of the evolution of moral thought in relation to Islam. He noted that Dr. Shadab’s work explores the ideas of eminent Islamic scholars such as Bukhari, Al-Ghazali, Ibn Taymiyyah, and Rumi, among others. The book also critiques the postmodern sexual revolution and its effects, as well as the influence of Hindutva and modernity in India, from an Islamic moral standpoint. Dr. Jamil highlighted the book’s discussion on the contributions of prominent female thinkers and social leaders, which he described as particularly noteworthy.
Dr. Shadab Moosa, Director, Shafi Moonis Academy: Research, Development and Training, is a distinguished medical doctor with an MBBS and MD. His academic achievements are complemented by advanced studies in Quranic and Islamic Studies, including Arabic Al-Fusha from Egypt’s Jamiya Al Azhar. An accomplished author, Dr. Shadab has previously written the book “Technology aur Hum.”
