JIH President Urges Unity Amidst Mounting Challenges for Indian Muslims

New Delhi, Feb. 9: In a recent video address to the community, Syed Sadatullah Husaini, National President (Ameer) of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, highlighted the mounting challenges faced by Indians in general and Muslims in particular. As the elections draw near, he emphasized the escalating audacity of sectarian forces and their impact on democratic institutions, including the judiciary, bureaucracy, and media.

He stressed that the invasive nature of the fascist forces is spreading hatred and communalism and that they have the ability to destabilize not only the Muslim community but the entire nation. He exhorted Muslims to face these challenges with resolve, knowledge, and steadfastness.

The JIH Ameer said, “The Ummah in this country has been experiencing trials and tribulations since time immemorial. Whether it was the first rebellion in 1857, the country’s war for independence, or earlier periods, history has proved that no powers have ever succeeded in bringing down and erasing the community. Moreover, challenges and difficulties cannot dishearten us. In fact, according to the Quran, true faith is demonstrated when our belief and self-confidence strengthen even further after facing adversity. As Allah mentions in the Qur’ān (33:22), “When the Believers saw the Confederate forces, they said: This is what Allah and His Messenger had promised us, and Allah and His Messenger told us what was true. And it only added to their faith and their zeal in obedience.” This verse strengthens a believer’s faith, boosting his dedication and submission.”

While recognizing and validating the genuine emotions of sadness, anger, and unrest prevalent within the community, the JIH Ameer urged the community to derive resilience from their faith and the teachings of the Quran. He stressed the imperative of action over despair, advocating for a proactive stance in addressing the multifaceted challenges at hand.

Addressing potential solutions, he outlined a comprehensive strategy encompassing both external and internal dimensions. Externally, he urged efforts to counter divisive narratives and foster societal change, while internally, he called for addressing and rectifying community weaknesses such as a lack of education, leadership, and unity.

He proposed a series of practical steps for Muslims to undertake, including initiatives to improve inter-community relations, uplift the socio-economic status of Muslims, advocate for justice, and leverage social media for constructive engagement. He also highlighted the crucial role of political participation, urging Muslims to actively engage in the electoral process to influence positive change.

Concluding his address, the JIH Ameer encouraged Muslims to transform their grief and anger into positive energy, backing and supporting those dedicated to community improvement. Simultaneously, he emphasized unwavering commitment to progress. He rallied for a collective endeavor to usher in a fresh era of resilience and empowerment, undeterred by the obstacles presented by divisive influences.
