JIH Telangana Unveils Maulana Abdul Basit Anwar Fellowship to Promote Higher Education

Hyderabad, October 24, 2023: The Telangana chapter of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) has inaugurated a new scholarship program, named after the former State President of JIH, A.P. Maulana Abdul Basit Anwar. This initiative aims to support and inspire young Muslim students in the State pursuing higher education in four key areas: media, law, economics, and history.

During the launch event, Dr. MKM Zafar, JIH State President, expressed the organization’s commitment to recognizing and nurturing talent, particularly within the community. He explained, “Through this fellowship, we not only seek to pay tribute to Maulana Basit Saheb but also encourage high-achieving members of our community to excel further in their chosen fields.”

The fellowship is administered through the HRD Department of the Jamaat, with S.M. Fasiullah, Director of HRD, clarifying that it will be awarded to students who have achieved the highest academic grades at the Ph.D., P.G., and U.G. levels in the preceding academic year. Each selected student will receive a grant of Rs. 15,000, a commemorative memento, and a certificate of accomplishment.
