New Delhi: Prof. Salim Engineer, Vice-President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, strongly condemned the recent violence and arson in Krishna Nagar Tola, Nawada, Bihar. The attack, allegedly motivated by a land dispute, resulted in the destruction of over 80 homes, leaving hundreds of residents homeless. The assailants, armed with guns, not only set ablaze numerous houses but also caused the deaths of several animals.
Prof. Salim Engineer emphasized the need for swift and thorough investigation by the police and law enforcement agencies to determine the underlying motives behind this brutal incident. He stressed that those responsible for this atrocity must be held accountable and face the full force of the law.
The violence highlights the ongoing social injustices faced by Dalits, despite constitutional safeguards and affirmative actions designed to protect them. Many Dalits continue to experience systemic discrimination, economic marginalization, and limited access to essential services such as education and healthcare. Often confined to low-paying jobs and living in poverty, their plight underscores the persistent inequalities in society.
Prof. Salim Engineer urged society to reflect on and embrace the principles of equality as taught in Islam, which upholds the inherent dignity and equality of all human beings, irrespective of race, ethnicity, or social status. He called for a renewed commitment to addressing these deep-rooted issues and ensuring justice and equal rights for all.
