JIH Women’s Department Hosts Webinar on Justice for All

New Delhi, July 9: The Women’s Department of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind organized a national webinar titled “Justice for All: Whose Responsibility?” on June 30. The speakers emphasized the collective responsibility of individuals and the government in strengthening the justice system. They highlighted the need for accountability for genocide, war crimes, deprivation of rights, and injustices against vulnerable groups. The speakers also noted the public’s lack of awareness about the justice system and insufficient cooperation from administrative institutions as significant challenges.

International law consultant Dr. Selvi Ganesh from Chennai discussed the pervasive nature of injustice affecting not only humans but also animals and birds. She described the deprivation of the right to education as a form of injustice.

Dr. Jharna Pathak, Assistant Professor at GIDR and Secretary of Awaz NGO, called for accountability for injustices and condemned the use of religious sentiments to promote injustice. She pointed out the United Nations’ apparent helplessness in ensuring justice for all.

Social activist Dr. Sabiha Khanam from Delhi highlighted the government’s role in ensuring freedom for all individuals, stating that justice is a fundamental need of society.

Sumaiya Maryam, National Assistant Secretary of the Women’s Wing of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, stressed the importance of individual and collective efforts against injustice.

Editor of Asian News Makers, Binny Yadav, stated that India, as the world’s largest democracy, should serve as a role model for justice but noted that surveys indicate the opposite. She emphasized the significant role of media in this regard.

In her presidential address, Rahmatunnisa A., National Secretary of the Women’s Wing of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, stated that individuals, communities, governments, and the media have a responsibility to promote justice and equality based on Islamic teachings and international principles. She emphasized that those with power or education bear a greater responsibility in establishing a just social and political system. Injustice, whether occurring in one place or against one group, equates to injustice against all humanity.

The webinar, convened by Arifa Parveen, also featured speeches by Rabia Basri, Mubashra, and Qunita Salma, and was moderated by Raheela Khan.
