JIH’s Markazi Taleemi Board Calls for Thorough Investigation into NEET 2024 Irregularities

New Delhi, June 15: The Markazi Taleemi Board (MTB), affiliated with Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, has called for a comprehensive investigation into the alleged irregularities in the NEET (UG) 2024 examination. Syed Tanveer Ahmed, Secretary of the MTB, emphasized the need for transparency and accountability from the National Testing Agency (NTA) amid serious concerns regarding the exam’s integrity.

The MTB highlighted several troubling issues, including allegations of paper leaks, unusually low qualification scores, a sudden surge in perfect scores, and a suspicious concentration of top scorers at a single center in Haryana. These factors, according to Ahmed, cast doubt on the fairness and reliability of the NEET (UG) 2024 examination process.

“The initial evidence and prima facie reports indicate significant irregularities and a failure by the NTA in conducting the NEET (UG) 2024 exam,” Ahmed stated in a statement. He underscored the gravity of the paper leak allegations and called for a meticulous investigation to uncover the truth and uphold the examination’s integrity. Ahmed pointed out that the ongoing controversy has caused immense stress for students and undermined their confidence in the examination system.

Welcoming the Supreme Court’s decision to admit students’ petitions, Ahmed expressed hope for a fair and swift trial. He proposed that the government consider decentralizing the examination process, allowing state governments to conduct exams, which could potentially alleviate administrative and fairness issues.

“The government should prioritize an impartial inquiry into these allegations rather than defending the NTA without a detailed investigation. An independent audit is essential to ensure transparency and restore trust in the NEET (UG) 2024 examination process,” Ahmed urged.

He emphasized the necessity of confidence-building measures to regain the trust of students and parents, advocating for accountability and appropriate punishment for those responsible for any malpractices.

The MTB’s call to action reflects a broader demand for integrity and fairness in the national examination system, urging the government and the NTA to address these concerns seriously and restore confidence in the NEET process.
