Kamarudheen Sahib, Founder of Al-Shifa Multi-Speciality Hospital in Okhla, Passes Away

New Delhi: Kamarudheen Sahib, founder and former director of Al-Shifa Multi-Speciality Hospital in Okhla, passed away in Kerala on November 21 after a prolonged illness.

While working in Abu Dhabi, Kamarudheen Sahib played a pivotal role in the construction of the ‘Puthiya Palli’ Mosque in Alathur and made significant contributions to Isha’ath Masjid Committee. He was also instrumental in establishing Crescent Hospital in Alathur, which provides critical medical and intensive care services to the community.

In addition, he was a founding member of Alathur Isha’athul Islamic Charitable Society, which has greatly contributed to the educational, cultural, and social development of Alathur. He also played a key role in founding Model Central School, which aims to integrate modern education with moral values.

During his time in Abu Dhabi, Kamarudheen Sahib, along with Jabbar Usthad and others, formed a group for Alathur expatriates, which later became known as AMA. This group supported individuals seeking employment in Abu Dhabi and contributed to development projects in Alathur. Upon returning to Alathur, he briefly worked as a teacher at Mass College under IICS umbrella.

Later, he served as the Managing Director of Al-Shifa Multi-Speciality Hospital in Okhla. He also worked closely with Professor Siddique Hassan on Vision 2026, which has provided shelter and support for impoverished communities in Northern India. Over his lifetime, he held various esteemed positions, including President of Isha’ath Masjid Service Committee and Vice-President of MAS College Management Committee.

Hassanar, a close associate, shared: “Kamarudheen Sahib maintained a deep connection with the mosque. Even when confined to a wheelchair, he would attend Jumu’ah prayers every Friday. During the last ten days of Ramadan, as long as his health permitted, he would stay in the mosque for I’tikaf. His dedication was inspiring, and the installation of a ramp at the mosque later made it easier for him and other elderly or differently-abled individuals to participate in prayers.”
