Kannauj Police Remove Loudspeakers in Districtwide Noise Control Drive

Kannauj: Police in Kannauj district have launched a major enforcement drive to reduce loudspeaker noise levels at religious and public sites. The operation ran for three days. Officers inspected 171 locations across the district under the Noise Pollution Act. They found 85 loudspeakers above the permitted decibel range. Police lowered the volume of 54 of them. They removed 31 devices that violated the rules. These removed units were later handed to educational institutions for reuse.

Superintendent of Police Vinod Kumar led the operation. He said the goal was compliance with law and increased awareness. He explained that noise control protects peace and respect among communities. Police teams met local religious and social leaders to encourage responsible sound use.

The district has followed earlier moves in Muzaffarnagar, Azamgarh and Firozabad, where authorities acted against excessive sound from religious places. Officers in Kannauj stated that they are working to build long term habits of lawful sound use.

Local residents supported the action. Many reported frequent disturbance from loudspeakers used during events. One resident said the noise had become unbearable at many times during the day or night.

Officials said noise control is a legal and civic responsibility. They urged communities to follow the rules to maintain a peaceful environment. The administration wants this model to guide other districts that are dealing with similar concerns.
