Karnataka Minorities Department Unleashes Major Welfare Schemes

Bengaluru: Karnataka state minorities department has taken a major step in welfare of the minorities. Fifteen women Pre-University Colleges, fully equipped ambulances and coffin boxes with freezing facility were launched here by the minister for Housing, Waqf and Minorities Welfare BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan.

Under the Minority Education and Welfare Drive 2024-25, Khan laid the foundation for 15 Waqf Women PU Colleges across the state. In a mega event held at Haj Bhavan here the minister also declared release of 224 coffins with freezing facility for all assembly constituencies in the state.

He also showed green flag to launch 30 ambulances for all districts. The ambulances with oxygen, ventilator and other emergency medical facilities valued around 40 lakhs each will be placed at the disposal of district waqf offices. Along with the driver each ambulance will have trained nurse to attend the patient during the transit, he said.

Under the Directorate of Minorities, Zameer Ahmed also announced scholarships for minority students. Around two lakh poor students in the state will be helped to pursue their education. Another 1,300 medical students will be given five lakh rupees each as scholarship, he said.

A special scheme for Madrasa students was also announced which will enable the students to pursue modern education through National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS). The department has selected one hundred madrasas to be provided with teachers to handle NIOS subjects. This scheme will be managed by Shaheen Group of Institutions, Bidar. It has been targeted to get 5000 madrasa students pass the secondary education exam this year under this scheme, the minister added.

Minister of Municipal Administration and Haj Rahim Khan, MLC and political secretary to the chief minister Naseer Ahmed, state working president of INC Saleem Ahmed and prominent Ulama and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
